Take the Pledge to Recycle on America Recycles Day

Take the Pledge to Recycle on America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day is a great way to take part in protecting the environment. What you learn on this day can be used for the rest of your life, both at home and at work. Central Kentucky Fiber Resources offers a variety of recycling resources to help businesses of all sizes recycle the products they no longer need. Find out how you can make a difference this year by taking the America Recycles Day pledge.

What is America Recycles Day?

America Recycles Day is held on Nov.15 and is sponsored by Keep America Beautiful and various business partners. It is designed to educate consumers on the importance of recycling with events organized across the country.

There are a number of recyclable products out there, and yet many are tossed in the trash every day. This increases the amount of waste in landfills and puts more strain on natural resources.

Everyone is encouraged to take the pledge to participate in this annual event. There are three steps to taking the pledge:

  1. Learn: People will learn about what materials are collected within their community for recycling
  2. Act: People will take the pledge to reduce their own personal waste by recycling. Over the next month, they will make the effort to recycle more
  3. Share: Over the next month, people will encourage at least one friend or family member to take the pledge as well

There is a significant amount of education involved with America Recycles Day because it focuses on the importance of recycling and why people should get involved. Schools, businesses, households, communities and more are getting involved and there are events that can be attended throughout Central Kentucky and around the rest of the United States. There are more than 1,200 events already registered for 2015.

Taking The Pledge Means Promising to Reduce Your Personal Waste

Why You Should Recycle

The importance of recycling should be known by everyone. By recycling and keeping materials out of land fills, we protect the environment as well as human health. Benefits to the environment include decreasing water and air pollution as well as conserving resources associated with raw materials that come from natural resources.Recycling helps to reduce shortages of raw materials and provide a new industry where there are more jobs and a higher standard of living.

Taking the Pledge

You have the ability to take the pledge for yourself on Nov. 15. The America Recycles Day website has a form where you can take the pledge. More than 60,000 people have already pledged, stating that they will find out what materials can be collected within their community, reduce personal waste, and encourage at least one friend or family member to take the pledge.

This is your chance to Keep America Beautiful and be more environmentally friendly. Take the pledge today!
